Looking after your personal information

We’ve updated our data protection and privacy policies ready for the new data protection laws that come into force in May

We take care to look after the information we have on all of our members and readers, such as email addresses and phone numbers. A new set of data protection rules come into force on May 25 and we’ve updated our data protection and privacy policies to make sure we’re fully up to date.

The new data protection rules

The data protection laws were written in the 1990s, in the Data Protection Act. Given that the world has changed since then with new technologies and electronic communications, it was time for an update to make sure people weren't receiving endless marketing emails, letters and phone calls.

The new rules are called the General Data Protection Regulation, published by the Information Commissioners Office. They apply to all organisations in Europe and cover how they need to handle all personal information – for example, phone numbers, email addresses and payment details.

How we look after your data

We value your privacy and we keep your information secure, accurate and up to date, and only keep it as long as is reasonable and necessary. We won’t share it with third parties or bombard you with requests for money.

See our new Privacy Policy and Data Protection Policy for details, and contact us if you would like to know more.

If you currently receive any emails from us that you no longer want, please unsubscribe using the unsubscribe link at the end of the emails or get in touch with us at info@bloodpressureuk.org.uk
