Get involved with Salt Awareness Week 2017

From 20 to 26 March 2017, Consensus Action on Salt & Health (CASH) will run its 18th National Salt Awareness Week with the theme of Salt: The Forgotten Killer

Published:

Throughout the week the campaign group will be working to remind people across the UK that salt raises blood pressure, leading to strokes and heart attacks, and that by simply eating less salt we can lower our chances of dying prematurely. The campaign will include a Parliamentary Reception at the House of Commons, attended by the Department of Health, NGOs and the food industry, with speeches from high-profile guests.

CASH will be calling on the food industry to continue with their efforts to reformulate manufactured foods to reduce their salt content, aiming to meet the 2017 salt reduction targets. They will encourage the government to take more action to ensure that the UK salt reduction programme continues long into the future, and they will encourage the public to look after their health and make changes to their diet.
