Know your Numbers! Manchester - Kinetik Wellbeing
How Kinetik Wellbeing Empowered the Manchester Community to Know Their Numbers!
From the 6th - 8th of September, we proudly participated in Blood Pressure UK's annual awareness campaign, Know Your Numbers! Week, where we showcased our brand-new Wellbeing Pod in the heart of central Manchester. Positioned on bustling Market Street, we offered free blood pressure checks to everyone who passed by, resulting in an impressive 1,009 checks over the three days of the event we participated in.
This year marked the 24th anniversary of Know Your Numbers! Week, with the empowering theme "You Have the Power." In line with this theme, we aimed to go beyond offering one-off blood pressure checks by equipping individuals with practical knowledge and resources to take control of their health. We wanted to ensure that those with high readings understood the steps they could take to manage and lower their blood pressure.
To achieve this, we partnered with Well Pharmacy, who generously sent four of their experienced pharmacists to assist with our efforts. These pharmacists not only provided free blood pressure checks but also offered additional services to those in need. Among these was the opportunity for follow-up care through ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) as part of the Hypertension Case Finding service.
The Hypertension Case Finding service is a valuable initiative that identifies individuals over 40 years old who may have undiagnosed hypertension and refers them for appropriate management. By detecting potential cases early, this service can play a key role in preventing more serious health issues. We were proud to implement this service in partnership with Well Pharmacy, helping people in their long-term health journey rather than just offering a one-off reading.
In addition to these efforts, we also raised awareness of our digital service, My Blood Pressure, developed in partnership with Blood Pressure UK. This platform is designed to be a personal companion for those monitoring their blood pressure. It offers easy-to-use tools to track readings and provide tailored clinical advice from hypertension experts. Users can also access tips for making lifestyle changes, such as adopting heart-healthy diets and improving exercise habits, all aimed at helping them achieve and maintain healthier blood pressure levels.
Thanks to our efforts during the campaign, we welcomed 326 new users to My Blood Pressure. This service continues to support individuals in taking control of their health, encouraging them to make informed decisions about their blood pressure management. For more information, visit mybloodpressure
