In collaboration with Well Pharmacy, one of the UK’s top pharmacies, and Blood Pressure UK, Kinetik Wellbeing are expanding their reach to over 30 locations across the city of Manchester. Throughout July and August, locals will be able to visit participating pharmacies for free blood pressure checks.

They decided to focus their efforts on Manchester because they believe in promoting equity and addressing the needs of communities that would truly benefit the most from their awareness campaigns and free blood pressure checks. Manchester, an area of high levels of average deprivation, sees individuals three times more likely to die prematurely from cardiovascular disease (CVD) compared to the least deprived areas of England.

High blood pressure (also known as hypertension) is one of the leading risk factors for CVD, this is concerning considering that 46% of adults with high blood pressure are unaware that they have the condition. This is why they’re eager to run this campaign so that everyone will know their blood pressure in the same way they know their weight and height. By raising awareness of the dangers of high blood pressure, they aim to make a significant impact in reducing these deaths and helping people live longer and healthier lives.

As part of our campaign, they’re proud to support the NHS Hypertension Case-Finding Service. This essential service is dedicated to diagnosing people with high blood pressure early on, enabling the NHS to provide timely treatment and advice like promoting healthy lifestyle changes to those who need it. Diagnosing high blood pressure early on is vital as high blood pressure can lead to severe health conditions such as heart disease, strokes, and vascular dementia if left untreated.

Their PR and marketing efforts will help raise awareness about this service as well as the dangers of high blood pressure, emphasising the importance of regular blood pressure checks. By educating the public and encouraging regular monitoring, whether at a pharmacy or from home, they aim to reduce premature deaths caused by high blood pressure.

Phil Pyatt, CEO of Blood Pressure UK said: “We are proud to be supporting this massively important campaign as having your blood pressure checked is the most important step that you can take to reduce your risk of stroke, heart attack or heart failure. Given high blood pressure does not show any clear symptoms – hence being dubbed the ‘silent killer’ – all adults, regardless of their age, need to take control of their health by checking their blood pressure regularly.”
