High blood pressure: exercise and activity

Daily Life with high blood pressure: Having a good time

Q. Can I still go clubbing, despite my high blood pressure?

A. Yes. Physical activity (exercise) is good for your heart and lungs and will help to lower your blood pressure. So, getting out on the dancefloor could do you the world of good – just so long as you watch how much you’re drinking (please see Am I going to have to give up drinking? page for more information).

If you have very high blood pressure (more than 180/100mmHg) you will need to check with your doctor before taking part in any vigorous physical activity or exercise.
