'Ignorance isn't always bliss.'

'Ignorance isn't always bliss?' is the warning the Blood Pressure Association is giving the nation during the UK's biggest blood pressure event, Know your Numbers! Week 2011.

More than 1,500 venues, known as Pressure Stations, are offering free blood pressure checks across the UK from 12-18 September.

The charity's research found the UK high blood pressure hotspots and also revealed nearly three quarters of UK adults don't know their blood pressure numbers. This means they are taking an unnecessary gamble with their health, as uncontrolled high blood pressure causes stroke and heart attack.

That's why the Blood Pressure Association is urging everyone to take the first step to lowering their odds of strokes and heart attack by having a free blood pressure check.
