BPA smashes World Record!
The Blood Pressure Association and Caer Health Services are proud to announce that we broke the Guinness World Record for the most blood pressures taken in one day!
The target to beat was 2,075 in eight hours, set in Florida in 2009, but the BPA and Caer Health Services smashed this target at the St David's shopping centre in Cardiff, taking 2,331 blood pressures! 16 nurses worked non-stop taking on average 18 blood pressures each hour!
Sue Massey, Deputy Executive Director of UK charity the Blood Pressure Association, said: "We're absolutely thrilled to have broken the Guinness World Record for the most blood pressures taken in a day.
"Not only is it an outstanding achievement to be gracing the pages of the Guinness Book of Records, but it also means over 2,300 more people now know their blood pressure numbers, and so have taken the first step to lowering their risk of stroke and heart attack."
BBC Wales Cymru came down to film the Record attempt. You can view the story here, but you'll need to speak Welsh to understand the dialogue:
Timothy West interviewed by Daily Express
Acclaimed actor and valued BPA supporter Timothy West put his support behind Know your Numbers! Week, when he was interviewed by the Daily Express, publishing in the Tuesday 14th paper. Timothy has high blood pressure himself so was able to talk about his own experiences of living with and controlling his high blood pressure.
Timothy's high blood pressure was first discovered "quite by chance" through a routine medical given to actors before starting a filming job. Timothy explained: "If it hadn't been for the fact I got that job and needed that medical I'm not sure that I would have found out in any other way before I or my family got a rather nasty shock."
That's why Timothy is urging everyone to find out their blood pressure numbers and get their free blood pressure check during Know your Numbers! Week.
Know your Numbers! Week on ITV Central News

Week. BPA Deputy Executive Director Sue Massey was also interviewed, talking about the importance of knowing your blood pressure numbers.
