Clapham resident supports friend through 10K run
Susana Cespedes, a Clapham South resident, will be running the British 10K London Run on Sunday 6 July for UK charity the Blood Pressure Association.
Susana, a researcher at The Bridgemann Art Library in Central London, was inspired to find out more about high blood pressure when she discovered that a friend had recently been diagnosed with the condition.
Susana said: "One of my friends has high blood pressure and I am trying to motivate him to take regular exercise to control it."
Susana has never run a 10K distance before but she has been training for the British 10K London Run since January and she’s determined to complete the race. Susana explained: "I’m happy with how my training is going and it’s hard work, but I know that I will be raising vital funds for the Blood Pressure Association to raise awareness and help those with high blood pressure."
The British 10K London Run route passes through the heart of London, providing runners with the opportunity to see famous London landmarks such as the London Eye and St Paul’s Cathedral from a totally different perspective. The race begins at Hyde Park Corner and runners will pass the finish line at Horse Guards, Whitehall.
Grant Usmar, Head of Fundraising at the BPA, explains: "We are delighted that Susana has chosen to raise money for the Blood Pressure Association in this way. High blood pressure is the major cause of strokes, heart attacks and heart disease but the good news is that it can be successfully treated. As Susana knows, leading a healthier lifestyle is an important step. We wish her and our other runners the best of luck".
Susana is aiming to raise £500 for the BPA and people can support her fundraising efforts by visiting www.justgiving.com/susanacespedes. There are still places left for runners to support the BPA.
