Eating a diet high in salt has a direct effect on our blood pressure. Blood Pressure UK actively encourages the reduction of salt in people's diets, both through manufacturing processes and by individuals. Our information encourages the use of herbs and spices in cooking as a salt replacement.
We do realise, however, that it can be hard initially to remove salt completely from your diet. We currently work with LoSalt because they have the same message as Blood Pressure UK; try to remove salt from your diet if you can, but if this is proving difficult then make sure that you cut down to less than the 6g a day maximum advocated by the Department of Health. As LoSalt is low in sodium, the part that has an effect on your blood pressure, it can be used to help lower you daily sodium intake.
To help raise awarness about the importance of reducing sodium as part of a healthy diet, you will see Blood Pressure UK logo on LoSalt tubs and information leaflets.
Visit the LoSalt website for more details.
