Blood Pressure UK takes an active role in helping to shape and influence the prevention, detection and treatment of high blood pressure. Current activities include:

  • representing the interests of people with high blood pressure by contributing to the development of national guidelines on the treatment of high blood pressure. Blood Pressure UK is currently a stakeholder in the current update of the NICE clinical guidelines on the treatment of hypertension. Find out more
  • campaigning for a new comprehensive Cardio & Vascular Health Strategy for 2010-20 to ensure that high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease is at the top of the Government's agenda. We represent the views of people with high blood pressure as a member of the Cardiovascular Coalition, a national coalition of 41 voluntary and professional organisations, with an interest in promoting and protecting cardiovascular health in England.
  • improving awareness of blood pressure health by running our award-winning campaign Know your Numbers! Week during which more than 100,000 free blood pressure checks are provided annually
  • working with the local NHS to deliver community NHS Health Checks, which include blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, BMI, waist circumference and lifestyle checks, to those most at risk of cardiovascular disease.
